About Vietnam, Mosaic of Contrasts

Vietnam - Mosaic of Contrast, is a compilation of 145 best photos from Réhahn. This BIG COFFEE TABLE BOOK (2.3kg, 28x33cm) is a diary of the French photographer’s journey in his new homeland, Vietnam, and its people, culture, lifestyle. Réhahn’s sharing of what he has encountered and learned throughout his 8 years travel in this country allow the world and most Vietnamese to discover something beyond what usually seen in Vietnam.

Prefer to share only photos of children, the elders, some sceneries and lifestyle of Vietnam, Rehahn usually choose not to tell the story of each photo. He wants his viewers to absorb their own perspective in the photo and to come up with their own story for it. It’s something Réhahn would love to share with his viewers if they will ever meet because Réhahn love to speak to people about stories he has encountered during his road trip around Vietnam.

It’s with Vietnam Mosaic of Contrast that people will see the beauty of Vietnam through a very different angle. The children with such pure and innocent face, the elders with their wrinkle face, rough hands are what Réhahn wants everyone to see what so different about his view of Vietnam compare to the other photographers. It’s a natural look, yet, with much more meaning in each photo as he spends his time getting to know each character in his photo. Perhaps, Réhahn wants his viewer to discover a Vietnam with many forgotten heritage and culture. It is the reason why he chooses to travel to the most secluded mountains and villages for his photo shooting. Réhahn’s photos are something that most foreigners or even Vietnamese rarely see in the busy city or more tourist areas of Vietnam.

About Rehahn

Born in 1979 in Normandy, France, Réhahn has always lived with a passion for travel and photography.  In 2007, during his mission trip with a nonprofit organization to Vietnam, Réhahn has felt in love with the people of this country. He begins to invest more time into exploring the Vietnamese and its culture through his camera lens during his yearly trip to Vietnam. It was only in 2011 that Réhahn decided to relocate his life by moving to a small town of Hoi An, Vietnam. Choosing to give up his modern and hectic life in France to live a quite one in Hoi An was Réhahn bold decision to follow his dream in photographing. The photographer spends most of his time travelling and meeting new people whether it is local or tourist to search for the right moment to capture for his photos.

For most people who travel to explore the beautiful sceneries, Réhahn travels to meet people and capture the most natural moment of those individual he has encountered. It is only through these faraway places that Réhahn learns of new cultures and most importantly, learns to take photo in his very own special way.  The difference between Réhahn‘s photos from other portrait photographers is the random and natural moment, of which, he captures when spending his time to interact with the models. Réhahn’s photos leave viewers to imagine the story behind each moment because he wants viewers to discover for themselves the beauty of the photos.

Réhahn’s hardworks have paid off by being recognized by some of the most prominent photography magazines such as, Los Angeles Times, Conde Nast Traveller, Daily Mail, Times, National Geography, Foto Digital… He is also carried a large number of followers and fans on his personal facebook page. It is approximately to be over 200,000 fans and more to come for Rehahn. After all the amazing Worldwide media coverage that Réhahn has received, another big reward was an article published on Boredpanda.com (1.5 millions followers on FB & 3 millions on G+) in December 2014, listing Réhahn as the fourth best portrait photographer in the world alongside very famous photographers such as Steve McCurry, Jimmy Nelsson, Lee Jeffries …

About Son Tinh Brand

Markus Madeja, the founder and originator of the Sơn Tinh liquors, is Swiss-born with a background in social anthropology and linguistics. In 1993, Markus Madeja traveled to Vietnam where his fascination with traditional handicrafts and Vietnamese culture triggered his interest in rice liquor. Like most other traditional handicrafts in North Vietnam liquor production is organized in traditional handicraft villages in which most of the inhabitants pursue the same profession. Markus’ starting point was the village of Phu Loc in Cam Giang district of Hai Duong province where he studied the traditional way of producing rice liquor. Adopting the villagers’ way of liquor production while adding modern methods of production from his native Switzerland he started a small-scale production of sticky rice liquor together with local villagers. The resulting liquor was further used to macerate traditional herbs and local fruits. The herbal recipes of Sơn Tinh are inspired by traditional herbal recipes. By 1999 Markus had refined more than 20 recipes and together with his business partner, Dan Dockery, and wife, Vu Thi Thoa, opened a small liquor bar, Highway4, in Hanoi in 2000.[4] Markus’ stated goal is to “preserve a traditional Vietnamese handicraft product and not only save it from getting lost by the rapid encroachment of globalisation but bring it to a wider international audience”.

Son Tinh’s line of products includes traditional herbal blends; sweet, fragrant, natural fruit liquors; and finally, a range of clear spirits that capture the very essence of glutinuous rice and local fruits.
Awarded as Distillery of the Year 2013 by New York International Spirits Competition (NYISC) and determined to achieve recognition of "Ruou" (Vietnamese rice liquor) as a liquor category in its own right, Son Tinh will continue to follow its chosen path to create a premium liquor of distinction exemplifying Vietnam's diversity of flavours and long tradition.
